Best picture I can manage as very shy. Been around my garden for two weeks. About same size as blackbird....would like to think it is a rare one but expect it is just variegated version. Any thoughts from an expert? |

Welcome to WAB Roger. Rossy is quite right, it's a Blackbird. The strange looking patchy plumage is the result of melanin deficiency resulting in 'leucism' where pigment is missing from feathers. Not unusual for black plumaged species to show this. |

Evening. If you go back a couple of pages on the bird forum there is a thread entitled "Leucistic birds" or somesuch. I just posted a photo on the same thread the other day of an all white pheasant and there are lots of other photos of similarly affected birds. |
