| | | Magpie Is there a way i can entice the magpie that stands on the wall opposite my house into my very small garden?
this magpie is very sentimental to me, due to its arrival and visiting in times when i am very down. i would like to be able to have it in my garden and to take pictures of it. it is about one year old and i have seen it since it was just fledged. it had a friend, but i have not seen the friend recently.
any help would be appreciated as this little bird really brightens my day
thanks |

| | | Re: Magpie Aswell as something shiny you might try putting out a broken hens egg, they like these very much. I know if I ever drop one of my hens eggs by mistake it isn't long before the crows are at it.

You might like the story about the magpies nest. It's the largest bird in Britain to have a completley domed nest. The story goes that the magpie was the only bird that knew how to build the perfect nest so other birds came to learn from him. The magpie starting demonstrating to the other birds, first laying two sticks across each other then putting some moss on top. At this point magpie was interrupted by the other birds, saying they already knew how to do that, but he carried on...more sticks on top of that. Another interruption! The other birds kept on interrupting at each point of magpie's demonstration! Eventually magpie got so frustrated that he flew off and left the other birds to their own devices - leaving the rude birds with just cup-shaped nests.
Silly old birdies!
Anyway, the magpies around here seem to like peanuts - I think they'll eat anything though. |
