It certainly beats feral pigeons. |

| | | Re: Feeder thief A couple year ago we used to have a pheasant who came every morning for his breakfast and evening for tea. If we were late going out with his food, he'd jump up on the window sill and look in!
Sadly he got run over on the way here one morning - I found him on the school run, dead in the road. We have a few others around that occasionally come into the garden, but haven't seen them since the snowy weather set in, and none as tame as our original one. |

| | | Re: Feeder thief My parents have pheasants that come into their garden regularly to be fed. "Fred" was the original and visited for several years morning and afternoon and would tap on the door if no one was there. During the recent snow the current resident has also been getting much braver and tapping on the door for his feed.
They also have several females that visit but not as regularly as the male. It's great to watch them display when there's more than one mail around.

| | | Re: Feeder thief The farm I used to work at had a pheasant, 'Percy' that was injured one year so was fed around the office, after he recovered he claimed the area for his own. He used to come running when you called. The farm used to run a weekend rough shoot and the manager had to shut him in one of the storage sheds when it was a shoot day. "more than my life's worth if the ladies in the office found out I'd got Percy shot!" He (Percy) was there for years. I've since left & the manager retired so I hope he's still up there strutting his stuff. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
