| | | Redwings - 'formation berry-eating team' I've been lucky enough to have a small mixed flock of northern Thrushes in my garden for the last few days working their way through any tree, bush or shrub still bearing berries and also feasting on the apples, pears and grapes I've been putting out for them.
They're mostly Redwings (8-10) with about 4 or 5 Fieldfares plus up to 8 Blackbirds and a solitary Song Thrush.
I've taken loads of photos - mainly the usual portraits and shots of single birds with berries in their beaks, etc but also a few group photos, fight sequences and other novelty shots with the birds in unusual positions.
Here's one example - it made me laugh so I thought you folks might like it too - any advance on 3 berry-bearing Redwings or Fieldfares?
NB. This is a genuine image with no digital manipulation.

The trees in my neighbourhood have been completely stripped.
Not a berry in sight.
Smashing photo. |

| | | Re: Redwings - 'formation berry-eating team' cracking photo Jeff and probably worth emailing to your local CR for inclusion in the annual bird report seeing as winter thrushes are a very hot topic for this winter (or even Birds mag). Dont think those berries are going to last much longer but great to see them eating! |
