| | | Fieldfare X Rottweiler I very much enjoyed the appearance of the Fieldfare in my garden.
But one in particular, is staying in a conifer, in the garden.
He is in the garden from dawn to dusk.
He thinks he owns the garden., and will not allow any bird, into the garden.
I didn't realise how aggressive they can be. He will fight anything that shows up, with the exception of Pigeons.
I think maybe he was crossed with a Rottweiler.
Might have to stop putting food out, in the hope that he moves on, and lets some of the other birds, get a look in. |

Maybe you could turn it upside down and put it over some food so that the little birds can get through the squares but the fieldfare can't?

Will take the basket off my wife's bicycle and use that. |

Just thought - have you got anything to stake it down with?

| | | Re: Fieldfare X Rottweiler If your wife objects to you pinching her basket (us women can be funny like that ) then try scattering the apples into several different areas - the Fieldfare won't be able to guard them all and might give the others a chance.
Though I'm not surprised the other birds are afraid, when you see them head on they look really threatening! |

I would not stop feeding them. Particularly now !
Besides. I am fortunate to have a large garden, and three feeding areas.
Non, or very few small birds, go to the area that the Fieldfare is. They all go to a different part of the garden.
This particular area, is mainly visited by, Blackbirds, Mistle Thrush, Dove's, Pigeon's, BHG's, and common gulls. Oh yes, and the Field fare.

There is a Sparrow Hawk making passes over the feeders and I know it is wicked but..............
