Keep hearing on news we need to look after our feathered friends but am not sure what's best for them so would be grateful for any hints.
Having said that am leaving out plenty of bread, shelled sunflower seeds, cake crumbs (not many - I've got 3 kids!),fat (is any type safe? I keep the fat after grilling sausages, burgers etc). Also remember hearing peanuts can be dangerous - is that just when chicks are around as too big for them??
As previously reported normally get zero birds apart from an unusual little robin sized bird which looks like a Meadow Pippit (small and speckled LINES on belly-definately not a Thrush) and eats bread. Well he's been constantly in and out of garden, taking turns with fat female Blackbird. Also seen a Wren and very unusual coloured bird, can't decide if Black Redstart of Stonechat but never seen one before in my life. Apart from those gems, nothing else!!
Thanks (PS Please ignore any typos I've missed as keyboard very temporamental!)
