| | | Snowy Feeders The recent snow has certainly brought a few more birds into the garden today.
First up was a Lesser Redpoll which was a new garden tick.
Then the Parakeets took over, chased the goldfinches away and squabbled over the feeders all afternoon |

| | | Re: Snowy Feeders Hi Astra, you must be thrilled lovely pics especially like the one of the Parakeets. I have been looking to buy the feeder type covers you use, they certainly do their job looking at your pics. |

I counted ten Parakeets in your photo. TEN !
I'd like to see ONE flying around.
They have been seen around an area close to me, and i have looked for them on many occasion. But still haven't seen one.
Same goes for the Lesser Redpoll. Haven't seen one yet. |

| | | Re: Snowy Feeders You're more than welcome Gaza I live about 9 miles from Richmond Park - as the Parakeet flies.
And you can take a few home with you too!
To be honest the novelty has worn off now and they are becoming a bit of a pain.
We've had flocks of up to 50 in the garden (though 6-10 each day is more normal) and they do chase off everything - they even mob the squirrels!
I've tried putting guardians over the seed feeders but the cages also put the finches off and I do so love seeing a happy flock of goldfinches |

The domes certainly keep the snow and squirrels off - you just have to make sure that there are no other branches alongside that the squirrels can jump across from | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
