| | | Fieldfares or what? Heavy snow where I live today, and after happily being sent home from work, I put out my usual range of bird food including apple slices under the cover of my holly tree where the snow can't settle. The usual resident blackies turned up, along with a slightly larger bird, with grey head, reddish brown wings and speckled breast. Now I know my song thrush and mistle thrush when they visit and this was definately not either of those. The resident blackies soon saw them off, but saw no flash of red to make them redwings...so concluded they were fieldfares- right??
Any help muchly appreciated |

| | | Re: Fieldfares or what? Lovely, thx! Another species to add to my list, am fairly new to the world of birds, being a bit of a moth nut in the past, and am loving the diversity and beauty of even the common birds in my garden. This site is excellent for the info that you give- keep it up! |
