| | Not British, but Red Bird for ID Please? I honestly didn't know where else to go for this, I figured if there's people who like birds here there's bound to be someone who knows a fair bit about birds outside the UK too.
I only have an illustration, I'm sorry. I don't know where it's found either, I only saw a brief glimpse of it and it was only a film clip. I never got to find out what film/show it was featured on (we were at shops and it was TVs in a shop window).
But I made a fast illustration before I would forget what it looks like and I think I got it pretty accurate. Can anyone identify this bird? All I remember seeing was it in trees in great numbers, and I think the legs were longer than what I drew there. In flight it looked quite big, perhaps bigger than a buzzard, and had a broad rounded wing shape in flight similar to a heron (because a heron's wings are the closest things I've seen to this bird's wings). It did not tuck in its legs in flight either, it left them hanging behind. |

It was one of the first ones to come up in the google search, I just found it too fragile looking to be the bird I saw. The bird I saw also had a heavier beak, and wide yellow eyes with a black pupil, and grey feet. I might be wrong, but I have a funny feeling it's not a scarlet ibis. |

| | | Re: Not British, but Red Bird for ID Please? 'Fraid not, it was much more similar to the scarlet ibis.
Maybe it could have been some unusual sub-species of scarlet ibis, one with yellow eyes and grey feet? Because scarlet ibis is the closest thing so far.
Haha, ok, I fibbed I'm sorry about that. I said I saw it on TV so I might get more serious responses, truth is I saw it in a dream and I just wanted to see if it was real, if I had seen it in real life somewhere before. Now, I realise it probably isn't a real bird. But I learned of the existence of two bird species I never knew about before today so thanks!

Google Abyssinian Ground Hornbill as a starter.
