Happy new year to you.
I was on the beach today and took a few snaps of a bird hopping around the base of the cliffs it seemed to be feeding on insects.. I do not know what it is could someone please ID it for me.. Thank you very much

happy new year. Looks like chiffchaff to me, a few of these do overwinter in the uk.

Is it also known as a siberian chiff chaff or is that a different species?

this would just be your normal, regular chiffchaff, Phylloscopus collybita, the siberian chiffchaff is a sub-species of this Phylloscopus collybita tristis

Also i thought this bird was also a chiffchaff but was a lot bigger.. the one in this post was about the same size as a wren or appeeared to be a lot smaller at least
