| | | quick question... just been looking through the 'herons, grebes,crakes and rails' Gallery, and it got me thinking... do grebes ever go on land???, their leg position seems like it wouldnt be possible, but has anyone seen this? |

I've seen Great Crested Grebes getting on and off their nests on the broads and it looks a bit awkward! Its a good job they don't have far to go.

| | | Re: quick question... Like divers they dont go on land unless they are going to their nest which in most cases is built amoungst water plants anyway. |

| | | Re: quick question... i once walked up to and picked up a dabchick that was on the field near one of our carp lakes put it on the lake and it swam off one thing i did notice it seemed to have a faint smell of cigars???
