| | | Mission accomplished very happy today, as i managed finally to crack my latest mission, to see a redwing or a fieldfare as i've never seen them and what with so much talk of them coming over every winter i really wanted to have the chance. i've been out most weeks, as much as i can, to areas where i know they have been seen. i've had a few 'maybes' where there have been flocks of varying sizes of 'thrush-like' birds, but never any i could confidently ID.
this morning though, i went for a little walk down the river in newark-upon-trent with a friend. noticed some birds flying over a field and went to take a look, and lo and behold, there they were, far away but with a little patience i was rewarded with my first views of BOTH redwings AND fieldfares, only a handful of each but i was so pleased to see them!
i know they're not rare or anything and people see flocks of them all the time, but it was good to see them finally, especially after eluding me for so long |

| | | Re: Mission accomplished Congratulations . They are quite a common site in Winter where I live now, but we never got any where I used to live in the North East so I always enjoy seeing them when they arrive.
