Evening Jez,
Yes, there was - the regular ' Bird of the Day' thread which is of course still there. It was decided a few months back by Stu that certain threads should be un-stickied to reduce the number of them, and to add extra importance to the threads that it was decided really needed it. The ' Bird of the Day' thread is posted in perhaps more frequently than any other, so it stays near the top anyway!
This also happened elsewhere with un-stickying, such as equivalent threads in ' Insects and Invertebrates' and ' Wildflowers', but with them being more seasonal they tend to drop back to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th page... at least with the Insects one!
