| | | Unidentified birds Found some more while sorting out my photos. Hoping that I have some new species here.
Stock Dove?
Sanderling? The bill seems to short.
Reed Bunting? Tail is too long?
This warbler was on mainland Europe, I understand because there is no wing visible it might be unidentifiable. I was thinking Chiffchaff (dark legs).
This bird had a unique call, and I first thought Nutcracker. This one was on the mainland too.
Ducks, The second one appears to have a green speculum.
2 other things: First of all I saw a pair of Sandwich terns in Hythe, and as far as I am aware they do not tend to stray far from colonies, where is the closest one to Hythe? 2: I also have a recording of a bird I never saw, I am not sure if I can or how I can upload audio clips. (I will probably work it out soon enough)
Edit: That's if those terns were Sandwich. They had a white patch on their forehead, so it could be a non-breeding plumage. Except it was taken in the middle of July. |

| | | Re: Unidentified birds Thanks for i.d.s:
Duck hybrids drive me up the wall sometimes...If I can at least find a name for the particular cross or species involved then I can at least tick them off my list.
A Garden Warbler would be a new one for me, I never suspected it. I have no clue how to tell them apart from Chiffchaffs other than song (naturally it was not very audible). I heard a Chiffchaff and Blackcap in the area, not that it helps. The only undentified bird calls I heard were the one made by the bird I thought was a Nutcracker and another call that sounded similar to a Robin. |

| | | Re: Unidentified birds Thanks for all the I.D.s, on that note I can tick 2 more birds of.
For number 5, that bird was probably slightly bigger than a Mistle Thrush (Jay also crossed my mind, but it was a very long distance away, and as soon as I started approaching the flock took off), do you have any ideas what birds that occur in Normandy it might be?
and for 8, I have a recording of it swimming with its head up, I can try to upload an image of that if it helps at all. |
