They spend more time chasing each other than feeding.The blackbirds are the same.There's loads of food for them so it must be territorial.Either that or its a good way to keep warm.

interesting, i too have 2 or 3 robins regular and i see them chasing and fighting each other off, i even saw a robin pecking at a blackbird till it went from the food!

If you get a model robin and put it in the garden, it will get smashed to bits if it is in another male birds territory. The red (orange?) patch seems to be the stimulus.

I had 5 robins feeding together under the feeders yesterday, the food was obviously more important at that time than territory. Or perhaps the resident one decided he was outnumbered so not worth spending vital energy chasing the others off. Or maybe the feeders are now where the territories all meet and they've rejigged the boundaries. Anyway nice to see them not scrapping with each other.

Im in Scarborough, all of these Easterly winds have likely brought hungry european territory-less birds across. I know we had a decent fall last month. There where several continental birds along the cliffs yesterday.
