Dorset Red Kite?? I'm holding my breath...

I'm really, really hoping that this is what I think it is... a Red Kite.

If it is it will be my very first, seen in my patch today.

Definitely a Red Kite with forked tail + general coloration. Good spot + a bird that can turn up almost anywhere these days. Great to see them prospering!

They wander through occasionally. Check the 11th of May. The Lytchett Matravers one was me, that's my home village.

PS Was at Middlebere late in the day today and spotted a barn owl out for an early evening flight and a male hen harrier.

Thanks everyone. So excited as it's my very first Red Kite... and have been hoping to see one on my own patch in Dorset.

I saw it just north of Cranborne Farm (on the Jubilee Trail footpath), Nr to Cranborne, Dorset at 12.35pm today.

It just swooped backwards and forwards above me. Stunning.

Yes, they are around in Dorset! Lucky you getting a picture (or three!), I've been driving the last three times I've seen one without any chance of stopping.
