| | | Re: Any tawney owls near you I have them in the back garden every night but have yet to see them. My old queen heard them having a right barney one early morning and guessed it must have been a kill. I see a lovely barn owl most evenings I go looking near the reservoir at the top of my village but have yet to see the tawney's - just get woken up regular by them.

| | | Re: Any tawney owls near you Nice photo Doxhope
We have them in the garden and adjacent meadow most evenings and hear them through the night.
Be careful when photographing them though - Eric Hosking (famous wildlife photographer) lost an eye to one whilst photographing a nest site from a tree hide

| | | Re: Any tawney owls near you Until recently one used to shout his head off from our kitchen roof and you occasionally see him flit past my bedroom window, they have sinced moved on and I regularly see one sitting on a telegraph pole by a nearby farm, the owl is looking straight into a hay barn. Didn't see him at first but the dog had stopped by the pole to annoint it and I felt something staring at me - looked up and there he was.
PS Lovely shot btw |

| | | Re: Any tawney owls near you Nice picture. Yes we have them living around us. One roosts in the log shed. Make a heck of a mess with droppings and pellets but not to worry. See and hear them often. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
