| | | bird song i heard an odd bird song today, seemed to be utilising a bit of mimicry. it was coming from a small stand of trees opposite my bustop at uni in the middle of arable countryside. was around 4 30 so getting pretty dark so i couldnt see it.
the bird was singing very loudly and was using calls which sounded like -
great tit song and alarm calls
blue tit song and alarm though sped up considerably
a couple of 'car alarm' type calls repeated a lot
also was' whistling' a bit and there were a few trills here and there.
i know its a long shot, but does anyone have any idea what i could have been hearing, whoever it was, they were very persistent! my only thoughts is that it could have been a starling as i know they are well known for their song mimicry.
cheers
