Thrush on bird table

I have such a large group of starlings to feed, that I put out foil containers of bird cake onto the bird table. I'm getting through 1Kg a day. That will increase as the weather gets colder, if last year is anything to go by.

The exciting thing is that after the hooligans had left, a thrush landed and had quite a feast for a minute or so. I'd like to think he's the one who came to our garden last winter. He got bullied by the blackbirds when he fed from the ground. Who's a clever boy!

We used to have a song thrush visiting the bird table regularly. Sadly, one day we found a circle of song thrush feathers on the lawn, with a clean green patch in the middle - clearly a sparrowhawk had spent some time plucking the poor creature. This was a couple of years ago - and we've never seen a thrush on the table since, though we do occasionally see one in the garden.
