| | | ID please - Peregrine ? Hello,
(Firstly, thanks to those that replied to my previous post about a sparrow)
Today I saw a bird of prey chasing Lapwing at Aberlady bay - see photos.
Was it a Peregrine Falcon ?
Thanks,
David |

| | | Re: ID please - Peregrine ? Looks like a juvenile peregrine to me As for age I can't be sure but it looks like it has moulted some tail feathers so could be a year old.
Someone more knowledgeable will give you more detail.
Well spotted and very well captured photos!
Phoebe

| | | Re: ID please - Peregrine ? It is indeed a eyass (Juvenile) female peregrine, it still has its 12 tail feathers,
I think the gaps are due to its tail being spread and used as a rudder, to control direction. What a great sight to witness, and photos to match. Well done.
Regards
Colin

It was a spectacular performance to watch. Most of my photos were out of focus, but here's the best of the lot. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
