Garden portraits

Hi all.

A dull showery day in North Lincolnshire today so decided to take a few portrait style shots of the birds in the garden. Probably not the best day for it but I didn't fancy travelling far today anyway.

First a female Sparrow


A Goldfinch


Great Tit


Male Chaffinch


Finally a male Sparrowhawk. My apologies for the quality of this one. After grabbing a Sparrow it landed in about the only place it could have done to stop me getting a decent shot of it and I was also shooting straight into sunlight. Only about the second time the sun had shown itself all morning.

I don't know why you're apologising for the sparrow hawk

I got sidetracked by the patterns on the goldfinches perch they're bark beetle galleries (little things like that interest me ) lovely little extra detail on a gorgeous photo !

Very nice I particularly like the Goldfinch - for the eye contact and tilt to the head.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone, very much appreciated. Just a pity about the Sparrowhawk landing where it did but you can't win them all.
