| | | Nuthatch in Scotland?? Hi folks,
I'm just new to bird watching and thoroughly enjoying myself. I've read that the nuthatch has crossed the border and can be spotted in the south west region of Scotland. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any sightings in the central belt of Scotland??
Any information would be greatly appreciated,
Dan |

This year was the first time I've seen nuthatches in Scotland. The most reliable site was near Dalzell House in the Dalzell Estate, Motherwell. I saw them there in the spring/summer and have heard there has been other sightings lately. They are also in Pollok Park, Glasgow where they have been spotted at feeders. For a close-up look I would advise going to the RSPB site at Ken-Dee marshes - I got this photo at the feeders there. Nuthatch |

Dalzell House in the Dalzell Estate, Motherwell looks promising. I had a look at it online and there's an RSPB reserve called, Baron's Haugh there. If it isn't too bad weather wise on Saturday, I'm going to pay it a visit.
Great photos by the way. The peregine is also on my list. I seen one in Sydney, Australia believe it or not. It flew right past me when I was on a balcony on a high block of flats but haven't seen one here yet. |

If you're after a peregrine then you could go along to the Falls of Clyde where they nest each year. You get some great views from the wildlife reserve there. I've also seen them on Loudoun Hill near Darvel.
Cheers,
