Eccleston near chorley which isnt that far from rivington. I saw the red kite in the middle of the day directly over the main road.
I reported it to the bird recorder for lancashire and also gave graham clarkson a ring at rspb marshside. Graham told me that one had been reported a couple of days earlier near a small village next to longton, much hoole i think.
Im sure it would have been the same bird.
Why do you ask regards rivington? has one been reported in the area? I was thinking of going for a walk up in that area this afternoon.
regards mark....... |

| | | Re: Rivington Red Kite There was a red kite sighting in 'the Bolton area' a few weeks ago and my pal saw one in Rochdale earlier in the year. There seem to be one or two more sightings in Lancs these days. Check the Manchester site for updates.

| | | Re: Rivington Red Kite Hi,i replied to a red kite sighting in this area on here 03/11/09....i saw a kite like bird on the junction of m61 and m65 ... not far from rivington...someone had reported a sighting in the much hoole area i believe...so the possibility is yes one is knocking about...i bet it ends up at dunsop bridge very soon all birds of prey seem to love the trough of bowland !
i would be interested if its seen again in our area ...fingers crossed for this beautiful bird !

| | | Re: Rivington Red Kite Hi
I know this thread was a long time ago, just wanted to add. I have seen a red kite feeding in a garden in Audenshaw Manchester this morning! Sorry if I sound a little sad, just get excited when I see indiginous animals I haven't spotted before. |

| | | Re: Rivington Red Kite Thats grand Zoe, and welcome to WAB.
You should report it to Judith Smith, the county recorder.
This is one route to do it: New Page 1
it might make it up here!
Cheers
Ken
