| | | hawk in a car today whilst putting rubbish in the bin a car with 2 occupants in looked like they were looking for a house the next thing all hell broke loose magpies crows starlings all went up and it sounded like 1 had been attacked by the way it was sqawking. a neighbour ran out and the car drove past and 1 of them had a hawk in tethers on his arm. apparently the neighbour witnessed them throw the hawk out and attack the birds alas i didnt see if it took a bird but can only assume it made a hit from the racket and the neighbour didnt know either. never heard of this before and very surprised i can tell you. has anyone else ? rossy. |

| | | Re: hawk in a car Seen videos on youtube of this sort of thing in other countries... People hunting with hawks.
Was one bloke using a Goshawk to hunt crows.
I don't agree with it personaly because they hunt many birds and even small animals. Ok if you own a hawk and you take it to hunt so as it can catch its own food then fair enough but i think most these people do it just for the fun in the kill.
P.s. the bloke hunting the crows would use a knife to kill the crow once the goshawk had made the capture... i think he was just collect food for his hawk. YouTube - Goshawk hunting crows-a "drive by" falconry |

Have a look at these: YouTube - Car Hawking YouTube - Urban Hawking - Harris
Illegal in the UK unless you have permission to fly a hawk on the surrounding land and providing one is flying legal quarry.
Cheers

| | | Re: hawk in a car Hi rossy! and welcome to the 'club'. These were probably just some pimply faced prats, with nothing better to do than try and turn the general public against what is otherwise a wonderful pastime. People like these just irritate me. Grrrrrr!

It's certainly not 'falconry' whatever they thought they were doing. |
