Migrating birds good fortune.

I spent a late holiday in Jersey, Channel Islands in October. To my amazement, I found that farmers along the Jersey coast deliberately plant fields and fields of tall sunflowers when the seasonal crops are finished. The reason ? To supply migrating birds with a good crop of healthy food on their way south. Georgie6.

What a good idea. Food and cover from bad weather.

I don't think they would do that around here without getting subsidised!!!

brilliant !!! my friend near blackpool has sown tessle for the goldfinch to feed on and makes cakes made of lard and fat and things... for the local badgers..
if only everyone was so kind hearted...we can all do our bit...all it takes is a little effort !
i admire anyone who takes a little time out for the benefit of our wildlife...all i can say is well done !!!!! Boogle
