| | | Buzzard Hello
Every day on my drive home from work I have the pleasure of seeing a huge bird sitting in a tree next to the A1 / A47. He is unmissable - has a very distinctive white breast. He is there EVERY day and most days I nearly crash my car!!
Today I decided to see if I could get a photo of him - lo and behold there he sat very proudly in his usual spot. Took a photo from a long long way away (it's attached - sorry about the xexexexe quality) and then I managed to get into the field. As I approached along the perimeter of the field he flew off, so I settled myself some way from the tree, and sat there nice and quiet for about half an hour. Sadly he didn't return, despite my best efforts to camouflage myself!!
Anyway, my question is, is this a buzzard (I know the piccie is rubbish) but I am hoping the feather I found under HIS tree may help (piccie also attached).
Many thanks
Alison

| The feather appears to be one of the moulted inner primaries (p4/p5) of a juvenile/or slightly older Common Buzzard (in other words, a 3rd or 4th year bird). If it belongs to your bird (which seems possible from pic), then yes, it's a Common Buzzard sitting in the tree! |
