| | | Bird Identification please Hiya,
I was hoping someone with a better knowledge of birds than myself could identify this bird for me. Flickr Photo Download: Mistle Thrush
I took it over at the new forest ... my first thoughts were mistle thrush but the second option i can think of is field fare.
There were 5/6 of them in a field but this the only good shot i could get from the car window

I would say Fieldfare as the markings on its breast do not seem quite like a Mistle Thrush but i am probably wrong.

I've been seeing flocks of up to a dozen mistle thrushes harvesting the rowans and elderberries around the fringes of the forest over the last couple of weeks.
From the photo the ID for me is not wholly definitive, but because there was a sizeable group of them, I'd be perhaps more inclined to go with mistle thrush than song thrush ... it's not a fieldfare though. |
