| | | Red-faced little birds, please help id A few shots on these red-faced little birds from a distance. Not very clear photos due to the distance, but may be just about showing the birds' distinguish features = the red-face. They are moving around in a group of 10 or so.

What are they after? Seeds, worms or fruits on trees?

| | Re: Red-faced little birds, please help id Your photo shows the Goldfinches on a Common Alder, a tree associated with watersides + the seeds of this tree are extracted from the cones by their fine bills. This tree is a favourite winter food source for Goldfinches as well as Siskins + Redpolls too.
