Our area is full of birds which is probably why the sparrowhawk has moved in, i`m fairly certain that him and a possible partner are roosting here full time in the big trees at the back.
Like you say its nature, i like having the sparrowhawk around, where ever the other birds go they will always find a hawk of some kind not far away. It looks like our regular starlings have arrived for the winter as a group of about 30 of them were on the lawn today, the hawk wasn`t here last winter but it won`t take the starlings too long to work out that he`s around.
Were down on blackbirds at the min as we had quite a few last year, ive only seen one in about a month, we have large gangs of finches though and doves, the sparrowhawk had a collared dove last week and some other birds not long before that, he`s certainly eating well. |

He turned up again today in his usual spot, it was funny to be honest, he was sat on the fence one minute then the next this grey missile was chasing something round next doors garden which is quite a small garden. I couldn`t believe the speed in which he changed direction, he lost the chase as he appeared on the fence a few mins later empty handed.
They are great to watch and observe, its funny how their heads stand tall and alert when they spot a possible meal, they don`t miss a trick. |

It would flatten itself out so it was just a 'line in the air' as it approached, but still had that amazing turning speed. It's great to hear about your 'sprawk'. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
