| | | Re: etherow country park Hi Bornwild. I've been to Etherow just the once, in spring, looking for pied flycatchers (I saw 'em). There is some fine woodland here and would like to go back. At this time of year, your wagtails are likely to be grey wagtails rather than yellow. There are a lot on the river thereabours as I recall.
Regards, Chris |

| | | Re: etherow country park Yes they were grey wagtails but i'd only seen pied wags befor so it was a first and they were yellowy a bit !!
i will go again very soon but not on a saturday when kids where screaming all good fun but scared the little birdys off a bit
the waterfoul are very well fed there and pretty tame i saw at least 2 loafs of bread per family group being fed to the duckys
so midweek prob best but not next its half term lol
great place and only 20 mins away from me

| | | Re: etherow country park Its kind of one of my patches, I was down there last week, keep an eye on the Alders there's good flocks of Siskin, also to get away from the crowds carry on past the weir to Keg Pool, it usually has Kingfisher knocking around and possible Goosander with Cormorant roost on the river. Its also Gtr Spotted Woodpecker central almost every glade has a pair, the park hold good numbers of Bullfinch listen for them at the cottages near the wier and the river below the weir is good for Dipper. |
