The victim, by the way, was a wood pigeon, I think.

| | | Re: Sparrow Hawk or Goshawk Hello David I woul;d say Sparrowhawk too looking at book and comparing the 2 together the banding on the Sparrowhawk is more prominant than the Goshawk also it seems a lot lighter in the chest also

Sparrowhawk female would be a fair bit bigger than woodpigeon - but this looks bigger still and the bold supercilium stands out more on a gos, plus legs look chunky too - not 100%, but its my bet. 
Location and behaviour, call and wing shots would help, if you have any more detail?

Ken | Part of the problem in this size evaluation is that I think the prey has been misidentified- it looks like a Collared Dove to me.
The raptor is I believe a female Sparrowhawk. |
