Checking a bird of prey ID


This landed in my garden while I was washing up. My son says it's a female sparrowhawk, and that's what I've put on my blog, but I thought I'd better check with you experts as I don't know one BOP from the next.

I couldn't say what sex but it is indeed a sparrowhawk.

Ta. It was really beautiful. It caught a sparrow, and then flew off.

Yes it looks like a female sparrowhawk, the male is a cinnamon colour on the chest and is a smaller bird.
