Goldfinches

There is a area of rough ground behind an old barn on my patch, it is covered in weeds and now has a variety of birds feeding on it.
I have been watching the Goldfinch numbers build up and over the weekend, there must have been at least 60 birds in one flock.
A lovely sight to see as they jump from thistle to burdock and back to thistles twittering all the time.
I stood close to the barn in the hope that they might come close enough to take a pic when I noticed I was being watched.
There was a pair of eyes just above the level of the gutter on the barn keeping an eye on my every movement.

Plenty of Goldfinches here too, must be a bumper year (or is it down to all those sunflower hearts I put out around the garden, about 8Kg a week now).

Lovely shots snake. That goldfinch is superb. Seem to be a bird that is doing very well in most areas at the moment.

Great shots again Snake like the rest ewspecially love the Goldie have quite a few at the feeders up here just now ,along with the young from this years crop

Lovely shot's, love watching Goldies on the feeders, unfortunately we dont get them in large numbers.
