| | | Re: Website for rare birds in UK? Don't know about any websites but a friend who is a serious birder carries a pager around with him. This gives him up-to-the-minute updates of all significant sightings around the UK. Presumably from other people who also carry pagers? It costs money but I've never asked how much.

You have to sign in and it's on subscription to see full details of locations. An excellent site.

Probably the best service in the UK and at only £11 ish a month, a good deal too. I joined just recently and am very pleased with the service. Contact them on 01158 712 888. |

| | | Re: Website for rare birds in UK? Birdguides and Rare Bird Alert are the two best national ones. Search on the 'net for regional/county ones too. Birdforum also decent chatter on where exactly the birds are and (occasionally adult) comments about the birds and birders.
Cheers,

I'm with Rare Bird Alert. You get your pager for which areas you want and access to the internet site. I know it costs but you do get instant information of rare birds and locations. This has enabled me to see in Norfolk this year such birds as Red Breasted Flycatcher, Blyth's Reed Warbler, Black Winged Pratincole, Woodchat Shrike, Great Spotted Cuckoo and Pied Wheatear (see pictures) just to name a few. I now realise just how many rare birds I wasn't seeing locally before I had a pager!
Cheers David. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
