| | | Little Egret We saw one of these in Valentia, Co. Kerry Ireland today and I'm wondering how common they are? I am pretty sure it was the first one I'd ever seen; I will try and post some photos later (I sent my boss off to take some photos ) |

| | | Re: Little Egret Little Egrets are now quite common throughout the year more so in the south of England where they can be found on just about every bit of suitable coastline. Less common inland but they are on the increase. They breed in most if not all southern counties with a coastline. Not sure about the Irish population, but I would imagine that is increasing too.
Cheers,

Ah - I see I posted at more or less the same moment as Adam!
Little Egrets were once "annual visitors" in small numbers - we "twitched" our first at Radipole, Dorset in 1987 and now we feel hard done by if we fail to see one or more fairly locally at any time of year!

| | | Re: Little Egret Hi.
Little Egrets are getting common up here in norfolk now. Just at one site today there were at least six to ten about and that was without trying to find and count them. Do tend not to take too much notice now, but they are still great birds to watch. |

| | | Re: Little Egret There are a few on the river estuary down here in sunny Devon. I often sit by the river and watch them. beautiful birds.
However seeing the Great Egret at Saltholme was great too |

| | | Re: Little Egret I think I have seen then this summer on a sand/gravel pit near Sandy in Beds, and again at Amwell. Might this be correct? (Unfortunately, positive ID was hindered by aging binoculars and bad eyesight ).
