| | | Juvenile moorhen's cry I'm sure many people have probably noticed young and juvenile moorhens making a repetitive cry. It's a single note screech, quite quiet, almost pathetic sounding that repeats every 3-4 seconds. Whenever I'm there they're always doing it constantly.
Does anybody know what it's for? I was thinking maybe it's to keep touch with a parent? I usually don't notice the location of young moorhens until I locate them by sound, doesn't the constant screeching make it susceptible to predation? |

| | | Re: Juvenile moorhen's cry yes i suspect you're right about it keeping contact. it may also just be whining for food from its parents, i've heard quite a few whining juvenile birds, notably buzzards. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
