| | | Where to go this weekend!
If you are not sure where to go for a spot of birding this weekend then Martin Mere is a must if you haven't been before.
This morning literally thousands of Pink Food Geese were in residence along with hundreds of Lapwings. That's not to mention the early arrivals of Whooper Swans and a great sighting of a Marsh Harrier sweeping over the wetlands.
Martin Mere is only a few minutes away from Mere Sands Wood and about 20 from the RSPB reserve at Marshside, Southport.
All in all a great birding day out. |

| | | Re: Where to go this weekend! Was at Martin Mere on Monday. Amazing with all the PFGs.
At one point something spooked them and a couple of hundred hit the air. We were all in awe of this amazing spectacle when another 1500 came over the horizon to land on the Mere.
One of those moments we'll remember for the rest of our lives. |

| | | Re: Where to go this weekend! Membership for twelve months of the Wetlands and Wildfowl Trust which gives you unlimited free entry to MM is £34.00 with individual visits at £8.75 so it's a great bargain. Living less than 30 minutes away this is almost my 'local patch'. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
