| | | gold crests have been watching a beautiful pair of gold crests in the tall pines in the garden at about 5.30 this afternoon. i've noticed that they come to the gardens about this time then usually we don't see them again until february and they always seem to be in pairs. |

| | | Re: gold crests They are lovely little birds, aren't they?
I used to have a pair in my garden but I haven't seen them since the spring. |

| | | Re: gold crests Wish my garden was big enough and had the right habitat to attract Goldcrests. I think they are a smashing little bird. I know of a couple of places where I can see them at the right time of year, and one of these days they will stay still long enough for me to get a photograph.

| | | Re: gold crests I do see them in cycles in our garden and the adjacent wood. Sometimes more than others *but* I wonder how often they're there and we don't see them? Like wrens (which at least you can usually hear) they tend to flit about in the foliage which keeps them covered during the summer. With leaf-fall it's easier to see them? Quote: |

| | | Re: gold crests This time last year my patch had a fall of hundreds of these beauties, sadly i watched some of them literally drop off there perches exhausted after crossing the sea. Wonder How many never make it ?.
This year not been many, as migration conditions have not materialised.

| | | Re: gold crests We're very lucky as last year we got a Goldcrest in our tiny Garden, and we've seen a few fleeting glimpses of it this month. They're so secretive, hardly ever come into the open. Fantastic birds! |

They like the dreaded leylandii so they may be in your area |

They often seem to often natter amongst themselves almost continually and once you have your ear in to the sound you hear them around quite a bit. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
