| | | Re: Unusual visitor to the garden Hello Dai not too sure myself had a look at books and have came upwith its a Warbler and I think its one of 3 ,either Garden Whitethroat or Chiffchaff but seem to go for the garden warbler the more I look at the pics and the books dont know why just a feeling I have.
No doubt someone with more experiance will help shortly

| | | Re: Unusual visitor to the garden Going to come of the fence had a look at the RSPB book and go with Willow Warbler ,the Garden and Whtethroat do not have the white band thru the eye and the chest is to light for the Chiffchaff so its Willow Warbler

It looks like a short Primary projection to me, dark legs (Chiffchaff can have very dark or dark brown legs). The legs appear to me to be darker than I would expect the Willow Warbler should be & the supercillium doesn't like quite as bold as I would think a Willow Warbler should be.
There are variations in both species but I favour the Chiffchaff for the above reasons.
