| | | BoP ID please Apologies for the poor photo, the bird was a long way away, it was blowing a gale at the time and I had no where to rest the camera.
Can any one identify the BoP sitting on the post?
This was taken in open farmland in the south west of Islay last week.
It had been mobbed by a group of hooded crows (it seemed roughly the same size as the crows) and eventually settled on this post. Eventually the crows lost interest and shortly after this was taken it flew off and glided over farm machinery and fences until it spotted a small bird. The change in speed was amazing as it followed the bird, wheeling after it, until, I think it caught it.

| | | Re: BoP ID please I agree it does look like a peregrine just going on colour
Edit: Yes the behaviour is more like a sparrowhawk and also the low perch. The head of this bird is turned so without more detail it's hard to say for sure.

| | | Re: BoP ID please I can see why people have said Peregrine as there is a superficial resemblance in this not too clear photo, but I agree with Chris, a Sparrowhawk. |
