| | | possible BOP i was walking around a local estate park today and noticed that the large corvid roost seemed edgier than usual, the wood pigeons were flying all over the place too. i waited around to see whether i could spot what was causing the commotion but didn't see anything. however, i did hear a bird calling quite loudly which didn't sound crow-like or pigeon-like. sounded raptor-like, so i thought it may have been a sparrowhawk. never seen one, apart from when i was on a train looking out the window, so i don't know what they sound like, but looking on the rspb website the sound matched up.
i also noticed there were 3 seperate areas where there was pigeon feathers/remains on the ground, and there was a wood pigeon close by which was breathing its last. do sparrowhawks attack corvids or pigeons? and would they cause such commotion in roosts of such birds?
annoyed that i didn't get the chance to spot it, but it wouldn't show itself at all! |
