| | | leighton moss visited hi all
had a cracking day today at leighton. more red shanks than ive ever seen in one place before, similarly godwits. great white egret, green shank, snipe, kingfisher, bearded tits, marsh tit, unfortunately no bittern. total of 63 different flavours with 2 heard but not seen (chiff chaff & curlew)
5 different raptors. 3peregrines,sparrowhawk,kestrel,marsh harrier and shed load of buzzard.there was supposed to be a merlin on the salt marsh but we didnt manage to see it.
all in all a good day. |

| | | Re: leighton moss visited 's never let me down. Great place, take your time and there is always something good, but if there wasn't the place is so good. The occasional trian about 20 yards away in some parts can make you jump.

| | | Re: leighton moss visited One of my favourite spots - long time ago took a girlfriend there on the way up to Scotland. Entered one of the hides and there was an otter swimming across in front of it which entered into a reed bed disturbing a bittern which then flew lazily across in front of the hide. That was all within two minutes of getting there, you just never know what you're going to see.
Glad you had a good day there.

Glad you had a good day there. | You've got the luck of the ............. you sure you don't have horns growing out of your head you lucky beggar! Mind you I have seen my first riverine otter earlier this year and a few in the isles but never at LM despite all these years of visiting ............
Pauline
PS Have a good day rossy - hope it all happens while you are there too ..... |
