| | | Bird ID please Found this little guy in Bristol. I didnt recognise the call as one of my local Aves, so zoomed in for some shote. At first I thought a juvenile starling but on zooming in I didnt recognise the chest markings or stripe near the eye. That led me to think Nutcracker. But as a novie I could really use an expert opinion please |

| | | Re: Bird ID please It's a juvenile/1w Starling so you were correct the first time. Trust your first impressions! (Nutcracker are very rare vagrants in Uk and have chocolate brown heads and much heavier bills) http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/ar...morski_oko.JPG |

| | | Re: Bird ID please Yep starling, lovely sounding birds and look pretty spectacular on a summer day, I never get to see them, maybe a few a year if I'm lucky.

| | | Re: Bird ID please I was hoping on a long shot of a Nutcracker lol, never mind. Its amazing that I have seen so many starlings in my life, but never have I witnessed such a beautifully marked plumage. A real treat! |
