| | | Re: leighton moss hello daffy i asked the same question 2 weeks ago let me know how you get on as im going up in october as that is the best time to see the bearded tits . a few of the birders on the forum have been but didnt see the bearded tits heard the bitterns and did see the marsh harriers. a booklet i picked up states april/may for the marsh harriers and the male bitterns booming call . the bitterns are rather illusive but in jan/feb come to the edge of the reeds . good luck . rossy. |

| | | Re: leighton moss daffy, i too would be very interested to know how you go on. we've been once before to leighton moss and are heading there again end of oct/beginning of nov. i'm really hoping to see a bearded tit, looks like we've inadvertantly picked a good time for the best chance of seeing them
we saw:
willow tit, reed warbler, bullfinch, spotted redshank, greenshank, avocet, gt. crested grebe, wigeon, shoveler, goldeneye and goosander
when we were there mid-march this year. didn't see or hear the bittern or the bearded tit |

| | | Re: leighton moss Visited Leighton Moss today but not much seen. Notice board reported lots of interesting birds but all seemed to avoid me. Visited many times over the years and taken some great photos of deer as well as Kingfishers, Bittern etc but also get a lot of blank days but it's always a great place to walk round. The sunshine today was glorious. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
