| | | Re: please help - unknown gull? Hi Genevieve and welcome to WAB. Your photos, which I have slotted in below, certainly look like a juvenile Black Headed Gull to me too.
(You can either copy and paste the Forum code from beneath the picture, or you can click on the Library Images icon to the right of where you type your thread/reply, which will bring up your Library Images. Just click on the one you want inserted, and there it is) |

| | | Re: please help - unknown gull? Seeing as you were so helpful with the last one i wondered if you could help me with these too
this one i decided might be a bar tailed godwit:
These i thought were black tailed godwits:
and these two ive no idea because i can't see much of them and don't know enough about birds - but thought someone who's good on birds might be able to tell even if the picture is a bit pants!
Thanks for the help! |

| | | Re: please help - unknown gull? 24hrs and no response from Genevieve?! Unusual on this forum for no one else to make suggestions too - did i miss something! Perhaps it's always a good idea for people to start new threads if they have further ID requests rather than post on their earlier threads, that way others get to see any new ID requests too - this may have been missed as it's still under the Gull request. Just a thought?

Of course, many new members post ID questions and may well want such second opinions if only to avoid any doubts on their part - I must admit I'm the first in line when it comes to being lazy in adding confirmations to other people's suggestions when I feel others have made a correct ID, but adding at least a couple of confirmation posts is probably not a bad practice for us to get into here - (doesn't need a whole page of people saying 'yes, it's a ...' but a few might be good).
(I've been wondering for a while now on WAB whether it's actually time for us to have a separate ID Forum in the Birds Forum - it would certainly help those who post threads to re-find their original post and also those wanting to respond to ID threads but don't want to wade through lots of other types of birding related threads ... dunno what others think? Maybe we could start a thread question to pole people's views?) | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
