| | | Bempton I had the opportunity to call on Bempton one evening when up that way. The place was closed, the weather dull and drizzling, on the plus side I never saw another soul. Saw several species of sea birds, and a weasel. Not great for photographing and never gave them much thought, but salvaged a few today.
I will go again in the day time I reckon they be some great photo opportunities pop up.
Regards
Colin

| | | Re: Bempton I called in there back in August on the way back from hols in Yorkshire. It was windy and sunny, which meant that the Gannets were floating along the cliffs giving some good photo opportunities. Fantastic place, I would love to visit earlier in the year when the auks are around.
Well done with the pics you got - enjoy if and when you return. |

| | | Re: Bempton I also saw fulmers and several species of gulls. I would like to get there when the birds were in the throws of breeding. Its just that time of year is impossible for me I did enjoy my time there besides getting soaked and struggling in the dark to find my way back to the car, where my wife was waiting as she stopped, in the comfort of the car I mangaged to get quite a lot of pics the trouble is with the high iso, and then running the whole image through neat image on auto the detail seems to fade. I really want to understand raw never used it yet, and want a good image software package and more than that learn how to use it well. So thats my next task
Regards
Colin

| | | Re: Bempton Yes a little late for the Auks and Kittiwakes etc. Plenty of gannets around though. Also good views of peregrine (First view point to the right). There are millions of weasels there in the grassland I have never been to a site with so many. Glad you enjoyed it. Also if your there again this time of year check out the farmland there have been alot of migrants round recently. |

| | | Re: Bempton the thing with bempton is that you have to look behind you aswell as to the sea. there were loads of wheatears, stonechats and pipits around in the grass when we went. the cliffs are just one mass of birds when theyre nesting.ive never seen so many birds. puffins arent that easy to spot they seem to blend in with the razorbills and guillimots.or that may be just me thats bloomin useless

| | | Re: Bempton Bempton is a place I've found to be fairly reliable for harbour porpoise too and you sometimes get long-eared owls roosting in the bushes in winter.
