Help on 15 year old bird of prey mystery

i wonder if you kind folk may help the wife and i, we live in east durham ,a very rural area to say the least and about 15 years ago we kept rabbits and to cut a long story short i had built a large pen about 20 feet sq but only 3 feet tall.one day the wife was indoors washing up and she a very large pird of prey come down and land on the cage,it lokked about for a few secs then diassapeared,she has seen red kites and even eagle owl and she says way bigger,she remembers it was a light salmon ,peachy ( her words ) colour all over ,with black or brown dark spots on wingtips,her overiding point was that it was a big peachy colour bird of prey

your help would solve a 15 year mystery for both of us, what fancied rabbit for dinner that day
