| | | Tufted Puffin in Kent
A Tufted Puffin was found off the coast of Oare Marshes near Faversham in Kent this morning by Murray Wright.  It settled on the water for about 10 mins before flying upstream.
This species come from the north Pacific Ocean. (slim chance it's an escapee)
If it's refound I know where I'll be going in the morning

Oh wow. I was about 10mins away from there this weekend (as I am every other weekend) and go there often. I think it would be a ride a bike there job as the car park/road is busy at the best of times! |

I know the news is negative this evening, but a long drive from Lancs could be in order in the early hours of Saturday if it re-appears and a few pals can be gathered to share petrol.

That's one I've never heard of before, well done to whoever got the photos. Doubt it's an escape, I don't think Puffins lend themselves to being in captivity, but I may be wrong. The local charter boats will be doing a good trade tomorrow. |

I bet its a black guillemot/puffin cross really.................
From the Aleutians area presumably - how on earth except by ship, surely?
Amazing beautiful bird though - I bet thats a first for everyone.
