| | | Attaching feeder to bird table Am thinking of attaching a suet feeder cage to my bird table using an eye hook to hold it on. Will probably just hang it at the front just below the table. Currently have woodpigeons and magpies using it regularly and in the past have had starlings. Does anyone else hang things off their bird table with success as have seen a few pics online of ppl attaching various feeders to tables and just wondered if anyone here does?
Thanks :-) |

| | | Re: Attaching feeder to bird table Hello dc2009
We have had a fat ball feeder hanging off our bird table now for about 8 or maybe 9 years and have had great success with it, we put in 3-4 fat balls every week!!
We have about 22 different species of birds come to our garden including many that use the fat ball feeder, these include blue tits, great tits, coal tits, starlings, black birds and crows.
So hanging it off you birdtable shouldn't cause any problems, although do anticipate that the birds might take a day or 6 to get used to it, but they should come round once they realise that it is safe and contains food.
Good luck, keep us updated on how it goes. |

| | | Re: Attaching feeder to bird table Thanks for the advice - much appreciated! :-)
Have only got the two species using the table at the mo lol - magpies and wood pigeons - but I'm happy with that, having seen more in the local area so hopefully as the weather gets colder more may come visiting. Have now attached a suet cake to the bird table so will see what happens!
Further up the garden closer to the house I have a pole station feeder with some sunflower hearts and water on. Nothing has ever used this station unfortunately but if/when they do I have a peanut and fat ball feeder ready to go in the shed! :-)
Am excited to see what arrives over winter already as this is my first year in this house! |

| | | Re: Attaching feeder to bird table Our bird table gets all sorts on it, well it used to do before a sparrowhawk appeared. I have a hanging feeder with sunflower hearts in and that attracts the goldfinches, bullfinches, greenfinches and various tits. I also have a feeder with peanut granules in, that mainly attracts the tits. In the bird table i have peanute granules for the Robin but he has to be quick as the doves and pigeons mop them up.
The doves and pigeons liked to roost on the roof of the bird table but thats not so evident anymore since the hawk as appeared. |

| | | Re: Attaching feeder to bird table So I tried hanging feeders off the bird table and...
a fat ball holder was stolen by the squirrel!!!
a fat cake holder has proved more sucessful, only being pulled to the floor by the squirrel as opposed to being stolen altogether. Starlings have now started to cling on and utilise this feeder... | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
