Are pheasants supposed to swim?!

We visited Combe Sydenham country park today in Somerset and the place was teaming with game birds that are obviously bred there. Most of them just watched us or tottered off but this one seemed particularly spooked by us and belly-flopped into the pond Just seemed to sit there looking silly! It wasn't there when we came back so I guess it got out all right

That's a young cock poult, their propensity for getting themselves into scrapes has to be seen to be believed! I suspect he'll have got himself out and be wet and sheepish but none the worse!

I remember seeing a male flying out over Pagham Harbour, land in the water + then started to swim ashore. Never seen anything like it since!

Judging by the species over-developed suicidal tendencies, any road vehicle with an internal combustion engine would do! Then the Pheasant would just come runnning out of the water to throw itself under the wheels.
